  • Great Gifts for Leos

Leo Dates: July 23 - August 22 | Leo Traits: Roll out the red carpet, because Leo has arrived. Leo is represented by the lion, and these spirited fire signs are the kings and queens of the celestial jungle. They’re delighted to embrace their royal status: Vivacious, theatrical, and passionate, Leos love to bask in the spotlight and celebrate themselves. These lions are natural leaders, and they enjoy cultivating friendships and romances that are artistically and creatively inspired. Playful Leos have no problem leaning into drama-fueled romances that are perfectly suited for the tabloids. (In fact, they may even prefer them.) After all, every Leo perceives him or herself as a celebrity. These astrological divas never get tired of lavish dinners, exclusive parties, or decadent designer wear. Leos are renowned for their stability, loyalty, and consistency. They are dedicated friends and lovers who put their heart into every relationship. (Fittingly, the Leo sign governs the heart.) Lions love to watch their mates succeed — until they feel threatened. They can become impaired by their ego, pride, and jealousy when they start to fear their star power will be eclipsed. Ultimately, Leos' own hubris is the greatest threat to their happiness. This fixed sign is known for its ambition and determination, but above all, Leos are celebrated for their remarkable bravery. In tarot, Leo is represented by the “strength” card, which depicts the divine expression of physical, mental, and emotional fortitude. Fearless optimists who refuse to accept failure, Leos will find their deep wells of courage grow as they mature. (source) For the Makeup Maven For this attention seeking sign, a great gift idea would be something to make them look great as they attract all eyes on them. This great gift set of Beauty Blenders will keep their makeup looking incredible for months! And with this celebratory gift box, the girl who loves a celebration, will appreciate this gift even more. Pair this with their favorite makeup for a stellar gift. For the Social Butterfly With a large social circle, a girl needs to keep tabs on all of her friends, and therefore her phone is her best asset. To keep that phone charged, this chic accessory accomplishes two things at once--staying charged and looking good. The Gift of 1,000 Words They say a picture is worth a thousand words and Leo's love a photo op! Now, their Instagram page might be the stuff of legends but not everyone prints their photos. This adorable camera will give them the ability to tack up those photos around their home. What are you giving the Leo in your life? Very Happy Gifting ... VHM

  • Your Summer Christmas List

Ok, I know what you’re thinking. It’s July, why are you talking about Christmas? While over here, I’m thinking, IT’S JULY WHY AREN’T WE TALKING ABOUT CHRISTMAS??? Think about it this way, we are halfway there! The season of giving is half a year away and that is a lot closer than it was six months ago. The realization that time flies is not a new one, but I’m trying to get you to preemptively think about Christmas and the list of gifts you’ll need to get. This year was off to a very unique start, to say the least, and as things get back to normal (hopefully) the pace will start to pick up as well. It doesn’t hurt to think about the gifts you’ll need in advance. There are so many sales coming up that you should at least look into and see if you can take advantage of; End of Summer Sales, Christmas in July sales and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to name a few. Think about it, if you would have started Christmas shopping in January and hopefully you did and followed my advice (link post) and purchased one gift a month you would have gifts for six people by now. But if you didn’t, and you start your gifting now, you can still be ahead of the game when December rolls around! Here are a few resources to help you start thinking about your gift list: VHM Gifting Spreadsheet Gifting in Advance Post VHM Gifting Questionnaire Start now! Very Happy Gifting! … VHM

  • Gifting Questionnaire

It seems simple but I know so many people that start out their gift shopping with the phrase, “I have know idea what to get_____.” Well, let’s fix this! Start by asking yourself some basic questions about your gift recipient. Fill out this questionnaire to point you in the right direction! Then review your answers to find your way towards the perfect gift. 1. What does this person do for a living? Do they like what they do? Do they need anything that would help them be better at their job? Do they need anything to wear to their job? Gift Ideas: If they work at an office they need professional attire to wear everyday, can you get them something cute to wear? If they are looking to take the next step in their career or get a promotion, get them classes or software to give them a competitive edge. If they commute to work, maybe they need entertainment to make their time on the road more enjoyable, get them an audio book or music subscription service. This mug is also great for coffee on the go. 2. What do they do in their spare time when they are not working? Do they have any hobbies? Is there anything you can get them that will help take their hobby to the next level? In their spare time do they like to relax? Can you give them something or an experience to help them relax? Do they like to be active in their spare time? Can you give them something or an experience that they would enjoy doing? Gift Ideas: Can you gift them an experience that they would enjoy on the weekend? If they love to drink wine in their spare time or go to happy hour, a wine tasting could be a great gift. If their job is stressful, a massage would be a great gift to help them relax. Think of their hobbies, if they like to knit, a craft gift certificate and new supplies would be great. If they are a movie buff a gift certificate to a streaming service or a book by or about their favorite director would really show you care. 3. What is their favorite color? What color are they always wearing, painting their nails, or have throughout their home? If you are gifting an item, think about getting it in this color. Gift Ideas: This is a great question/answer to keep in mind when you review the answers to the other questions. For example, if your answer to question two, is that your gift recipient loves to bake and her favorite color is red, then the classic red Kitchen Aid Mixer could be the perfect gift. 4. What do they love or obsess about? Everyone is a fan of something. What do they talk about constantly? It could be anything from a movie (maybe they are a Disney movie fanatic) a place (maybe they love a certain vacation spot or hometown). Can you get them something that will add to their love or obsession? Gift Ideas: Is it a show, a movie a music artist that they really love, if so tickets are a great gift. If they love a brand name then investigate items from that brand that they would love. Don't just think about things they love, think about activities they love. I know exercise enthusiasts who live and die by Lululemon and would love a new work out outfit and a gift certificate to Soul Cycle. 5. What are they always complaining about? Can you solve a problem for them? Do they have a recurring chore or task that you can take off their plate? What makes them sad, mad, or frustrated? I know this is an odd question but knowing what someone doesn’t like is a great way to find the opposite thing that makes them happy. Think about the last time they said “I hate _____.” Gift Ideas: People love to complain, so when you have a gift giving occasion coming up, listen to the complaints! Think about their complaints when they are doing anything. "I love to garden but I hate that all of my supplies are all over the place." This Gardener's Apron will do the trick! I love sparkling water so much but I hate lugging cases of La Croix from the grocery store. This home carbonation system could be the perfect gift. 6. When this person goes shopping for themselves, where do they go? What is their favorite store? Where do they love to shop? Could they use more of what they love from their favorite store? Gift Ideas: An obvious choice is a gift card to their favorite store in a pinch, which would also make a great stocking stuffer as well. Take the time to find out what they love from their favorite store and think about that item as a gift. Getting a great blazer from J. Crew and stuffing a gift certificate in the pocket is a great gift. Or pick up the newest sneaker launch at Nike, buy some sports socks and stick a gift card in a sock and stick the socks in the shoes! Grab a great travel makeup bag and stuff it with their favorite makeup items from Sephora and gift card. 7. What would they never buy for themselves? What is something that they would love but would find frivolous so they would never buy it for themselves? Gift Ideas: We all know that there are things that we love but that we tend to only get for others as gifts. Think about your recipient and what they love. Do they love flowers? A flower delivery subscription would bring them joy for months to come. Do they love a nice bottle of wine, but would never spend over $20-30 for a bottle, splurge a little and pamper them with a nice bottle of wine. 8. What do other people say about this person? Thinking about what others say about this person can give you key insights to their personality that you might not have picked up on before. She is so creative, he is so handy, they know so much about baking--casual comments like these can lead to great gifts. Gift Ideas: We usually bring our skills out around other people and sometimes we don't even know it. Compliments given by other people are a great way of finding their not so hidden talent. What do others say your recipient is "so good" at? Is your husband handy and have a passion for fixing things? Then a luxury leather tool kit will be a great place for him to store his prized tools. Is your best friend amazing at makeup, does she always have the best smokey eye? Then a set of luxury makeup brushes might be the perfect gift! 9. What is their idealized version themselves? Who do they wish they were? What qualities do they wish they had? Does this person wish they were more organized? Do they know they are always late but really wish they were on time? Do they wish they were one of those people with perfect hair and nails all the time? Gift Ideas: Thinking about the goals that they have set for themselves is a great way of thinking of a gift that helps them achieve these goals. To help them be on time, a beautiful watch would be a great gift. A day planner would be a great gift for anyone to wants to stay on top of their schedule. If they want to streamline their beauty routine that helps them look pulled together, get them a great beauty tool. 10. Is there anything on this persons unfinished business list? Is there anything they have wanted to complete for a long time? Have they always wanted to get swimming lessons? Have they always wanted to learn a new language? Gift Ideas: We all have items on our to do list that we want to get done, those goals that we have been saying that we want to do for a long time but just haven't gotten to yet. Do they want to learn piano, then piano lessons would be great! Have they talked about wanting to learn Spanish but just never did it? Then a language learning system will help them achieve that goal. Bonus Question: What do they want or need? This seams pretty obvious and I know you’re thinking, if I knew what they wanted/needed I wouldn’t have to figure it out. But so many people jump over even thinking about this and go straight to wandering stores. Gift Ideas: Think about your gift recipient and things they have said in the past or recently. We talk about ourselves a lot so there was a probably a moment when they explicitly said, "I want _______." Were you listening? When you mentioned that you had sushi for dinner, did you hear when they said "Oh, I love that place. I could eat there every night!" Maybe they would love a gift certificate to that restaurant. Did you hear them when you took a hike together and they said, "Oh, I need new sneakers, where did you get yours?" A new pair of sneakers might be in order! I hope this give you great ideas for any gift giving occasion. Very Happy Gifting! ... VHM

  • How to Have an Organized Holiday

Many feel that the holidays can be stressful. And I can relate, there is so much to do in so little time. Of course my first tip is to start early with your holiday shopping, but besides that it can be hard to keep everything straight. Did I buy this present for her or was that just an idea I had? Did I ship his present already? All the questions swirling around can make holiday gift giving overwhelming. I stay organized with this spreadsheet that I put together. I know, I know, you’re thinking that it takes a little bit of magic out of the season to organize everything in a spreadsheet. But I promise, the magic is IN the spreadsheet. It makes my life so much easier to stay on track, on budget and on time when I add all of my recipients and gifts to this spreadsheet. 1. Add all recipients To start I add ALL my recipients to the first column of this spreadsheet. This process helps me understand who I need to shop for. This spreadsheet divides the groups of people by relationship. The default groups are Family, Work and Other. In the family group I add my immediate family, in laws and any additional family members that I’ll spend Christmas with or don’t want to forget. Scroll down a little and you’ll see the Work group. I add my boss, assistants, company owners and work wives and husbands to this section. The last section is for any additional people that don’t fit into the previous groups. Neighbors and service workers like dog walkers, maids, mail carriers and anyone else you want to thank for a wonderful year can fit into this category. 2. Add in your budget After I fill in my recipients, I start thinking about my budget. It’s so easy to go overboard when buying for everyone. Even if you don’t stick to a strict budget, putting the prices of everything you’re purchasing this holiday season really puts things into perspective. It’s so easy to buy things when you see them in the mall and not contemplate how much you’ve been spending until it’s too late. This spreadsheet includes formulas that add all costs together to help you keep track. On this spreadsheet there is room for three gifts per person, but feel free to copy and paste to add more columns to accommodate more recipient gifts if necessary. 3. Fill in gift ideas and purchases Now it’s time to start filling in the gifts I’ve purchased or thought about purchasing along with their prices. Fill in all your ideas that you have to start with, then update the status of those items as they go from Idea to Purchased to Wrapped to Shipped (if you’re not spending the holidays with the recipient). After the big gifts, it’s time to focus on the stocking stuffers! Whether you save the best for last and purchase stocking stuffers after the big gifts or you like to pick up the small items as you shop for the large items, this spreadsheet will help you keep track. Following a similar format with the same columns and fields, it will allow you to take stocking stuffers just as seriously as the rest of the gifts! A few other tabs to keep you organized: Also on this spreadsheet is the VHM – Gifts Given This Year tab. If you have trouble remembering what you gave your father for his birthday, Father’s Day and your parent’s wedding anniversary then it might be a good idea to keep track throughout the year on this spreadsheet, just so you don’t duplicate an already given gift. The last tab on this spreadsheet is VHM – Notes & Ideas which is a great place for jotting down notes for gifts when you don’t know who they will be for or if you want to purchase them. On this tab I like to store links and lists or great gift options. You can use this spreadsheet digitally or print it out to write in notes. I like to do both. Earlier in the season I like to write things down, then I’ll transfer to typing things in as we get closer to Christmas and the list needs frequent updating. I also like to email it to myself or keep it in a spreadsheet app to access on my phone while I’m out shopping as well. I hope this helps keep your holiday organized! VHM

  • Gifts for Cancer Zodiac Signs

Cancer Personality Traits | Cancer dates: June 21 – July 22 Cancers are considered the homebody of the zodiac. Typical Cancer traits include being nurturing, sensitive, compassionate, self-protective, security-seeking and offering, loving, and displaying a goofy, ingratiating sense of humor. They are natural-born caregivers. Since the emotional, maternal moon influences Cancer’s personality so intensely, the water sign tends to prioritize — and occasionally twist themselves into knots — to make most people in their life feel even slightly more comfortable and secure. They’ll pour their heart into caring for plants and pets just as much as they do loved ones. Cooking or baking meals and treats with a ton of love is their specialty, but if a moment calls for a sentimental card, bouquet of flowers, or FaceTime catch-up session, they’ll be all in on that as well. And while they’re loyal to the core and will always show up for their friends, family comes first for these heartfelt homebodies. To show these caring souls how much you care, here are some great gift ideas! F O R C H I L L I N' A T H O M E : If it's Friday night, your Cancer might be having a great time at home. Make their night even better with a bottle of wine, a Vinglace wine chiller and a set of beautiful coasters! Whether their alone or with friends these gifts will make their night in even more special. H O M E D E C O R F O R T H E H O M E B O D Y : Since Cancers love to be home, give them a gift that helps them decorate their home and makes it look great. The combination of a great design book like AD at 100, that not only inspires home design but also looks great on a coffee table, pairs well with a cute and cozy blanket throw. B L I N G T O M A K E T H E M F E E L S P E C I A L : If you want to give your Cancer gift recipient a little something to make them feel special, I love this necklace Chill Pill Necklace that not only looks beautiful but also gives them a gentle reminder when the emotions of a Cancer get too intense. If you're willing to splurge, I love pairing this necklace with Maison Miru's Chaos Necklace for all the times when they feel it's impossible to chill! • What I’m Getting My Dad This Year for Father’s Day

I am so excited to share what I am giving my Father for Father’s Day this year! We all know Dad’s can be the toughest customer when it comes to gift giving. Well this year, I got my Dad a Staub Fish Plate. He is an avid fisherman and couldn’t wait to get out on the water once the recent COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. I thought this would be a great gift for him, so he could create his catch of the day special! My Dad lives in another state so I’m showing you the full details of how I packed everything up to get it ready to ship! Here are my raw materials, The Staub Fish Plate and two fishing lures for me to choose from. Staub makes excellent cookware so I'm excited to give him something that he'll love to cook with. In the box I added shredded paper for padding and bubble wrap so the two cast iron pieces don't scratch each other in shipping. Then I added the fishing lure for an added touch! After picking out some handsome wrapping paper, the wrapping can commence! I love black wrapping paper, it makes a gift looks so elegant. I've wrapped the box in black wrapping paper and strung black raffia around the box. Now, I'll add some dried wheat for a touch of contrast. To see more about how to use dried flowers as gift toppers, check out my post here. After wrapping the gift, I add packing paper to the shipping box to protect the wrapping paper from damage. Then slide the gift in the box. I've added a piece of bubble wrap to protect the wheat and top of the box and placed my Father's Day card on top. Time to wrap up the paper! I've secured the paper with a gold sticker just to secure it in place and add an extra touch to the gift to make Dad feel like this is something special. Tape up the box and it's ready to ship! Hopefully you've found some helpful tips on wrapping and putting finishing touches on any gift you need to ship. Very Happy Gifting! ... VHM

  • How to Make Your Father’s Day Gift Look Great!

You guys know how important I think wrapping is! It’s the cherry on top to a great gift. It adds to the experience of both giving and receiving! For Father’s Day I thought I’d show you how you can add that extra touch to your Dad’s gift. Instead of a bow, I added a tie to outside of this gift. To recreate this look, here’s what you’ll need: 1. A Tie: this can be a great way to give a little something extra on the outside of the gift. 2. Wrapping Paper: Use wrapping paper that matches or accents your tie. 3. Gift Wrapping Tools: Scissors, tape S T E P O N E : Choose the Right Gift Box Make sure the gift box is small enough to fit a tie around it. You’ll want to make sure that the outer perimeter of the box is about the size or a human neck, but not bigger than double the thickness of a human neck, just so the tie, when it’s tied, fits around the box. S T E P T W O : Select Your Wrapping Paper and Wrap Your Gift Make sure your tie looks good with your selected wrapping paper. Think of this in the same way your Dad might coordinate his shirt with his tie. You want the box to look just as dapper as your Dad, well almost! S T E P T H R E E : Tie the Tie If you don’t know how to tie a tie, you’re not alone! I found this video really helpful. After you’ve tied the tie around your neck, loosen one end to take the tie from around your neck to around the box. Tighten the tie around the box and adjust it until you like how it looks. S T E P F O U R : Tuck in the Tie (optional) You can decide if you like the dangling tie like someone would actually wear it. Or you can tuck in the bottom of the tie. To tuck in the tie, turn the box over so the front facing tie is flat on the table. Pull the bottom of the tie up and tuck it into the horizontal portion of the tie. If the bottom of the tie is too far from the top of the gift and will not reach, just add a little tape to the bottom of the tie to tack it down. Now you have a great gift and great looking gift wrap! Very Happy Gifting! … VHM

  • Great Coffee Gifts

I, have a confession. I am OBSESSED with coffee. I know what you’re thinking—yeah, yeah we all love coffee. I would wager that I almost have more caffeinated beverages in one day, than you have in a week. I just love it! I know, I’m working on my problem. I have learned that coffee is not water, and I’m making the appropriate substitutions. Anyway, as a coffee lover I needed a sleek way to transport my coffee. Finding a sleek coffee mug, that fits in my car’s cupholder was harder than it looked. I went through a few before finding the perfect one. While I’m not a coffee snob, per say, I do like good coffee over bad coffee—obviously. Brewing a good cup of coffee is synonymous with a French press, but a French press is not the first thing you think of when you need coffee on the go. That changed when I found the P1 Travel Coffee Press by ESPRO. It’s true, I found it and gifted it to myself! Sometimes you have to do it--#treatyourself. After I fell in love with this press, I knew it was the perfect gift to give to some of my friends who are “essential” and still need to go to work during COVID-19 while many are at home and sheltering in place. This travel press makes the perfect gift for any coffee aficionado or for Father's Day. It actually presses your coffee in the mug! Put ground coffee into the bottom of the mug, add hot water and wait four minutes and press down the filter. Now the coffee is ready to drink directly from the container. It even comes with a lid, to save some for later. And later—it will be hot because it keeps liquid hot for eight hours! Giving this press with any coffee accessories would make great additions to this gift. Add your recipient’s favorite brand of coffee beans from the store or any local coffee shop. I picked up some Peet’s Coffee (a California Favorite), a cute coffee scoop to help accurately portion the coffee grounds, and some sweet treats to enjoy with coffee—and added them all to the gift box. Do you have any coffee lovers in your life that would love this? What would you add to the gift to make it great? Very Happy Gifting! … VHM

  • Father's Day Gift Ideas

Father’s Day is coming up and I could not be more excited! I am a Daddy’s girl (what daughter isn’t) so Father’s Day is one of my favorite days to say thank you to my Dad for everything he’s done. Dad’s can be one of the hardest people to shop for because they have everything and want nothing, so you really have to dig to find that perfect gift for Dad! Usually men, by the time they are Dads have a “thing,” a hobby or a distraction that absorbs most of their free time. It’s time to tap into that thing! Here are some gift ideas to help you nail it on Father’s Day: For the Dad that loves to experiment in the kitchen: PIZZA OVEN I love this pizza oven for Dads that love to impress with their cooking creation. This gift turns an outdoor grill into a pizza oven perfect for summer meals. Now Dad can make really test out any unique topping combinations and to show-off in front of the entire family. This pizza oven would go perfectly with a pizza cookbook or a gift certificate to his local grocery store where he can get all of his supplies! I also love this for a Dad that hasn’t quite figured out what his thing is. This also makes a great last-minute gift if needed! Do any of these ideas sound great for your Dad? • Great Gifts for Geminis

About Gemini’s: Gemini star sign dates: May 21 – June 20 The Gemini symbol is the Twins - because of their duality, versatility and ability to talk twice as fast and say twice as much as everyone else. Geminis are youthful, charming, curious and responsive. Their nervous energy and perceptive abilities keep them ahead of the curve, sometimes making them seem psychic. They have a talent with words, and can talk themselves in (and OUT) of situations with ease. Some Geminis love to be the center of attention; others love to gossip. They're typically passionate yet easy-going beings who are always down for an adventure or intellectual conversation. If you hang out with a Gemini, only one thing's certain: you'll never be bored. For the Intellectual Gemini: If your Gemini has an intellectual side of them, then they would love a monthly literary subscription. These book clubs give them the entertainment, knowledge and ample conversation topics, perfect for a Gemini. B O O K O F T H E M O N T H C L U B: This modern version of a book subscription service offers flexible options so your recipient can read at their own pace. With a subscription they adjust the frequency of books so that they can read at their leisure when life gets busy or when they have a lot of time on their hands to read. F E M I N I S T B O O K C L U B: The Feminist Book Club offers subscription boxes and subscription books. A subscription to the Feminist Book Club supports feminist literature, as well as several small woman- and queer-owned businesses. Each box features two or more carefully curated products from businesses we love. If you decide to the gift your Gemini a book subscription service then make sure that they get the box on their birthday, or if the dates won’t work based on when the subscription starts, may I suggest gifting them a beautiful book mark with a note stuck inside saying that a subscription is on it’s way! I love this book mark from FOOD52. For the Adventurous Gemini: Soon we will be able to travel again, and when we do your adventurous Gemini will really appreciate some chic yet useful accessories. C U Y A N A P A S S P O R T H O L D E R This passport holder is chic for him or her adds an extra touch of organization and elegance. Any Gemini would be the envy of every TSA agent when they pull this out of their travel bag. Go the extra mile and get their name or initials embossed in this leather holder. Z O P P E N P A S S P O R T H O L D E R: This Zoppen Passport Holder is the end-all-be-all of travel organization. It’s more of an all in one wallet to help simplify the adventure for you Gemini.
