Father’s Day is coming up and if you haven’t gotten your Dad a gift yet, it’s time to get on it! Check out this post and this post and this one for some great ideas! Hopefully you’ve gotten your Dad’s present all taken care of so you can focus on what you’re going to do on Father’s Day. If you’re stumped, here are a few ideas!
Get Competitive
If some healthy competition really gets your Dad’s blood pumping these activities will be great for him on Father’s Day!
WORKOUT CHALLENGE:
If Father’s day ahead is looking like it will be filled with a delicious foods and a feast at the end of the evening then start the day out right with a workout challenge. Take a workout class together and see who comes out with better stats. Compare the numbers at the end of the spin class or even better run through this Alphabet workout from South Beach Diet while spelling out your Dad’s name or FATHER.
PLAY A GAME:
If whether your Dad is a quarter back or an arm chair quarter back there is a game out there for him. If there is a physical game that he used to love and play in his hey-day then challenge him to a game! A game of basketball or horse will be a fun way to spend time on Father’s Day. If your Dad is more relaxed in his competitive edge then pull out the board games! What are games that he loves to play? What about Monopoly, Sorry or even the game of Life?
Figure out the Food
GO IT ALONE:
Fix breakfast, or lunch or dinner for your Dad. Take if off of his hands and spoil him a little bit. Mom is not the only one that enjoys a meal prepared for them. You can definitely go to a restaurant or grab takeout but you can also prepare his favorite meal. You can also prepare his specialty of the house. Does he have a dish that he really takes pride in? Maybe it’s time to try your hand at creating the dish for him.
COOK TOGETHER:
If your Dad doesn’t want to give up the reigns to the stove or Barbeque this Father’s Day then help him out. Become his sous chef for the day and help him with the chopping, tenderizing and mixing.
Bring the Entertainment
MOVIE MARATHON:
If your Dad has a favorite movie, or several movies it’s time to binge watch! Several great movies are available with a little searching that will keep you and your Dad entertained for hours. Back to the Future, Star Wars, Die Hard to name a few. If you can’t find your Dad’s old favorite start a new show on Netflix together. Binging a series or even starting it will give you talking points for many get togethers to come.
SLIDESHOW:
Make the story of Dad’s life the entertainment for the evening. Can you turn old photos into a slide show? Or maybe going through old photos in a scrapbook will bring up hours of reminiscing over nostalgic pastimes.
Enjoy a great Father’s Day with your Dad!
Very Happy Father’s Day!
